My Story

I came into this world to young parents whose marriage quickly dissolved, leaving me predominantly in the care of my grandparents. Though I was provided for in some ways, I learned at a tender age that people can leave, an unfortunate lesson that I mistakenly believed to be my fault. Thus, a 'not good enough' belief took root within me, festering and growing through the months and years. To shield myself from the pain of rejection, I buried myself in studies and music.

My teenage years were marked by profound challenges. I felt deeply unwanted, grappled with crippling self-esteem issues, and questioned whether I held any significance in the eyes of others. It was during this period that my passion for teen therapy began to ignite.

Fast forward a few years, and I found myself entangled in various addictions, entwined in a cycle of destructive relationships. I wasn't exempt from poor behaviour either; I now understand that my anger led me to treat others poorly at times, mirroring the bad behaviour I had both experienced and tolerated.

It was within the confines of a marriage marred by domestic violence that I first sought one-on-one therapy. This decision came after having studied and successfully earned a degree in Psychology between the ages of 19 and 24. Despite my academic understanding of Psychology, I lacked a deeper awareness of my own self.

This pivotal moment led me to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Although I had acquired a strong foundation in the academic realm of Psychology, it became glaringly apparent that I had neglected to explore my own inner world.

As I immersed myself in my first experience of counselling, I made a resolute decision to use my newfound insights to help others find the same liberating experience I had received. This determination spurred me to pursue a year-long postgraduate training in Psychotherapy, which enriched my understanding of the field.

However, my thirst for knowledge and my desire to explore a wider spectrum of therapeutic modalities led me to study Integrative therapy. This path felt more aligned with my true self and enabled me to offer a broader range of tools and approaches to those seeking my guidance.

The rest, as they say, is history. Over the past decade, I have devoted myself to practicing as a Psychotherapist. I've spent 13 years working with individuals grappling with addiction and homelessness, and I have also contributed to various rehabilitation programs. Throughout this transformative journey, I've had the privilege of guiding numerous people on their quest to overcome addiction—a journey that often required me to confront my own inner demons.

As I continue on this meaningful path, my passion for facilitating positive change and personal growth remains unwavering. My ultimate goal is to empower individuals, just like you, to discover their own path to renewal and well-being.
